Once Upon a Time... I would like to tell you that Old Foundry Toy Works was founded in 1881,
that it was located across the street from the Wright Brother's Bicycle Company, and has seen prominent customers pass through
its doors such as Theodore Roosevelt or H.G. Wells.
Unfortunately, I cannot attest to such proclaimations because the toy shop is not like that in real life.
But...
What I can say is the above introduction does represent how we feel about our work, our vintage packaging and the tools that
we use are mostly antiques that have been restored to their former working glory. Our attention to details with authentic
construction and quality materials that make our toys worthy of ownership. We are a toy shop, in every sense of the word... We make, service, and sell toys & models.
Although there is an enormous amount of information on the Internet, we do not limit our historical studies to an easy Google search. The
research we commit to for prototype work varies from dedicated visits to museums, to countless hours in libraries, to visits with
owners of authentic original & rare toys or models.
This whole operation began as a simple retreat for myself after I injured my back. Collecting vintage toy soldiers was something
I had always wanted to do, ever since I was a boy. After a few eBay purchases of vintage Britains figure sets, and also seeing how
friendly the people in the toy soldier collecting world were, I felt that I could add something to the pastime. So I decided to make
my own toy soldiers & accessories, and after a short while, decided to start up a toy shop. I will put more information here as time
goes on, having information about the various stages of the progression of Old Foundry. From the humble beginnings working out of a house,
to our first storefront in Lafayette, Indiana. I owe nearly all of the inspiration I have to our little girl Lillian.
Thank you for visiting our shop
