ld Foundry's attempt at an exhaustive catalog that lists every known toy manufacturer world-wide. This record will also attempt to illustrate any existence of the old toy shops that are no longer in business. Though they all may rest in peace, the great years they were in operation, and the impression any one of them would have on the wonder of childhood, their miniature artifacts will be appreciated for generations to come. The historical research and accuracy contained herein was checked several times by as many sources as possible before an entry was finally published, though this list is not by any means complete. Sources were examined and referenced by public and private libraries, phone calls to public records, thumbing through antique telephone directories, etc.
This list contains doll makers, toy train companies, toy soldier companies, automaton makers, doll house workshops, model boat manufacturers, cast iron toy foundries, model engine manufacturers, and just about any toy company one could think of. And... if we have left some out, please enlighten us, and we will pursue the research and have it inscribed. The listing is arranged alphabetically by name, the earliest dates of actual manufacturing under that name are then listed, and original location follows. Some listings will not have full information.
