A tooling or face plate is often used for custom work mounting when a vise or a chuck mount isn't possible. This is our large tooling plate, intended for use on the Sherline rotary table, or for any machine that has a threaded spindle mount of 3/4-16. We also offer a smaller version with the same thread mount.
Entirely made of cast iron, this is a nice solid plate for special fixture work such as machining flywheels for model steam engines or for mounting a part that is too large to hold in a regular chuck. There are many uses for these tools.
Specifications are noted below
for the large tooling plate:
- Entirely made of machinable cast iron.
- 5-5/8" diameter, intended for mounting larger items on the Sherline rotary table.
- Outer edge face section is 11/32" thick.
- Inner face section is 5/32" thick.
- 8 auxiliary holes are 7/32" diameter.
- Plate has a 3/4-16 thread to fit Sherline's headstock spindle and their rotary table's chuck adapter.
- Riser blocks are needed if using this large of a tooling plate on the Sherline lathe.
- We offer a smaller version of this faceplate, see below for link.
- Can be used on CNC (computer numerical control) machines and on manually controlled machines.
- These could be made even more accurate by simply chucking to your machine and doing a facing cut.
- Can be used on the Sherline rotary table with it's chuck adapter (adapter is included with any Sherline rotary table).
